Normal pronation encourages a biomechanically correct running style that generally leads to fewer injuries. Normal pronators have medium arches and their feet are sometimes called “ideal”.
Running shoes built for normal pronators are usually labeled “stability”. Stability running shoes are built on a semi-curved last. Stability shoes can include features that prevent overpronation using stiff material on the inner curve of the shoe (a medial post).
What to look for in stability running shoes:
Look for dual-density midsoles that provide a moderate amount of cushioning, such as a combination of a layer of stiffer polyurethane along with a layer of EVA cushioning.
The outsole should offer moderate stability that combines stiff carbon rubber in the heel with softer blown rubber at the front of your foot.
