Under pronators are normally efficient runners with high arches. They do not need orthotics and run best in shoes that allow their foot plenty of freedom of movement.
Running shoes built for under pronators are usually labeled “cushioned”. Cushioned running shoes have a soft mid sole and are built on a curved or semi-curved last. These features encourage foot motion - good for rigid feet.
What to look for in cushioned running shoes:
EVA insoles offer the softest cushioning while remaining very lightweight.
Outsoles should be flexible and relatively soft.
